3:44 someone help me out…is the animation of what they’re saying here reversed? Wouldn’t the in/Hg be less at higher altitude, therefore the level of mercury in the “test tube” be lower than at sea level? @StarTalk

Funny tangent to the weight of air. My wife is an international rifle shooter. Her air rifle weighed in just under weight limit in equipment control in a particular match, it was very close. But that ended up being with an air cylinder that was NOT filled up fully with compressed air.

Her cylinder was filled for the next match AND filled with more than she normally would have at her regular location. This extra air pushed her rifle over the weight limit by a 10th of a gram.

She would have won gold but got disqualified by such a small margin. BY the WEIGHT of Air.

I wish I had these guys for my science teachers in school. Dr. Tyson bringing it everyday, explaining in plain English and Mr. Nice making us laugh while finding out how the world works. I would have looked forward to that class and gotten straight A's. I'm 53 and still learning, thanks guys for keeping it interesting and fun.
