As a millennial living through my 10th “once in a lifetime crisis”, this is getting really old.
Edit: to those that don’t get the joke, we (millennials) were raised to believe that we were living in “The end of history”. We were lead to believe, and our governments assumed that major global catastrophes were a thing of the past. They would only happen “once in a lifetime” at most.
Obviously we are now very much aware that that was a lie. A grossly flawed assumption of the post Cold War world. The joke merely pokes fun at the sheer hubris and naivety of the culture that raised our generation.
My wife and I reviewed our finances, and we're fine as long as we die by Sunday.

It’s that normal people now consider “owning a home, buying groceries, and retiring someday” unrealistic goals instead of basic expectations.
