$629 million sounds like a massive number until you look at their actual balance sheet. I bet they just write this off as a "cost of doing business" and keep the sketchy listings running. Does the EU actually expect them to police every single random warehouse in Asia, or is this just a performative slap on the wrist?
To sum up: when China punishes Jack Ma for defending the 996 system, it is a totalitarian distopia. When the Europen Union does the same it is a victory. Did I get that right?
These Chinese traders sell products that are toxic and pose a fire hazard.
There are also various licence and patent infringements.
For that reason, China is not a fair business partner.
When international corporations believe they're immune from safety and health regulations, people buying those products are harmed.
Copyright infringement, fake copies, poorly made, sometimes toxic dies in clothing can put people in serious health conditions.
Temu, AliExpress, X and others SHOULD be the ones ensuring products are good quality, BUT they fail to.
European are doing the job, that America fails to do.
