With just one day until Andy Burnham is crowned Labour leader, many are still scratching their heads – what will a Burnham government actually look like?
The problem with this devolution idea is there may not be 15 or so Andy Burnham type thinking mayors waiting out there to take over these new authorities. I’m not sure the electorate realise voting if for a new mayor isn’t a protest vote it has real consequences under devolution. What checks are going to be put in place to ensure there’s collaboration with local businesses, which was the Manchester model?
The only good news I heard from this government recently is its move to nationalise British steel back into public ownership away from predatory private market that have de-industrialised the UK for decades.
I guess this country is no different to North Korea or Russia now, where the ruling regime anoints its next dictator without any say from the people. Even Burnham himself said during the Tory PM merry go round, that there should be a general election, but now the dictator elect is silent. Why the hypocrisy? In fact, this case is much more undemocratic as this dictator wasn't even a member of parliament at the time of the last election. Notice how the corrupt media that panders to this regime is so silent on this slide into authoritarianism.

Honestly it feels like we're just waiting for him to drop a manifesto at this point. I really want to know where he stands on the specifics before he officially takes over. Hopefully he clears things up soon.

The suspense is real! I love how he's playing it cool by saying he's in no rush, but it definitely leaves us guessing about the actual plan. If this were a political drama, I'd be bingeing it. What do you think his first big move will be once he's officially in?
