Should have come to Atlanta. Atlanta stadium, Mercedes Benz Stadium, was built for American football and European football. Atlanta is a walkable city and the fan fest brought over 500,000 people. The West Coast also has games. Sofi and Seattle was a winner too. WELCOME TO THE SOUTH!! THESE TEMPERATURES ARE THE SUMMER FOR US. YOU GUYS HAVE A HEAT WAVE BUT WE HAVE HEAT MONTHS!! Europeans tend to see the US exclusively through their own frame of reference, in more ways than one. We have over 62 million soccer fans here (and we still call it by the old British upperclass term because we already had American football by the mid-1800s and didn't want to confuse them). You forget how many people who love Euro football immigrate here and follow their country's teams. Football in the UK grew up in neighborhoods, football in the US started in universities and became pro later, which is one reason our college stadiums are some of the largest in the world. We also split our time between American football, baseball, basketball and hockey to name a few of the bigger ones. Approximately 27% to 31% of American sports fans identify as soccer followers, and it consistently ranks as the third or fourth most popular sport nationwide. About 20% of Brits identify as American football fans and far less for baseball - only about 6% (although it has 500 million worldwide, particularly in Asia and Caribbean countries). NYC was singularly focused on the Knicks during the NBA Finals. Nothing else mattered during that time. After they won, though, the city popping with World Cup fever, especially in the run-up to Final!

I’m sorry but I’m dying laughing at you even entertaining the possibility that NY would care more about a World Cup game (any game, even the final) than the Knicks winning it all for the first time in over half a century. Especially after that historic comeback in game 3.
