Can Pope Leo XIV keep a polarized Catholic Church together?
The Vatican has excommunicated a global splinter group, the Society of St. Pius X, which claims to serve hundreds of thousands of Catholic f
Then how about the Chinese goverment consecration of its own Catholic bishops and the Vatican says nothing. According to cannon law that is an automatic excommunication. Then there was a bishop just recently confirmed in California with approval, uet nothing said. Now to point out cannot law does allow for bishop consecration under some extreme situations, the two I just mentioned certainly dont meet the standard.
It is not conservative vs liberality. Rather it is open embrace vs a clenched fist Theology. Of course the sacraments are all essential. Still , as in the Garden of Eden and the Garden at Gethsemane obedience is paramount and disobedience does not prevail.
Heretics cannot declare OTHER people as “outside the Church”, so the issue will remain “who is true to the apostolic traditions?” Slavish submission to the latest political clique at the top surely can’t be the highest goal of church members.
Vatican Has Permitted Syro Malabar Church Synod to Select & Enroll it's on Bishop & Major Arch Bishop...The authority power was handed over by John Paul 2 .25 years Back
There are to many Bishops, Cardinals, Priests, etc. fact is the Church is to large and well wealthy. It was not created that way by Jesus and the APOSTLES. It became the way it is when it became under the control of the Roman Empire and under the Roman Emperor's

It's not about defying a Pope.
Popes have been defied constantly.
And an excommunication is NOT a be all and end all.
It's a correction and a serious one.
They haven't stopped being Catholic.
They've just stopped being in communion with the Church.
And there is a similar organization called the FSSP that has all the things the SSPX has but still remains within the Church.

As a catholic, I really liked the resorts of Vatican 2. Studied them in school, and knowing where we came from [the strict conservatism and ego of the church before it] made me appreciate it even more. One of the the things I love about being catholic - is the interfaith dialogue, which encourages us to approach other people's religions and beliefs with curiosity and understanding.
Difficult to understand is the Churches approach to many issues “ Do not cause scandal “

So they can complain all they want. They are defying one of the oldest aspects of Catholicism.
