You're asking the wrong question. You should be asking, 'SHOULD politicians and public figure have to have 24/7 security? Where has our society gone wrong?'
It should be pointed out that the BBC revealed on the Victoria Derbyshire show that Nigel Farage in fact was offered tax payer funded security last year to which he turned down.
So why need to take the 5 million for security if he was offered security already for that?
if you listened very carefully to the police spokesman he said AT THIS TIME there is no suggestion of political motive, people and media not paying careful attention to those words then reported it as def not political motive full stop, at the end of the day the police shouldn't have said it at all and the media need to be more accurate with their headlines with such an important subject matter
It's always all about Nigel Grifter isn't it? All MPs need proper security but to the Grifter they are all behind him in the queue. It's a bit like £5m personal gifts for MPs. He needs to be first in the queue to receive it. The incredible thing is that there are still voters out there who think that after they have put their cross against his latest political party he will give a jot about them.
What about protection for other jobs in the country who are more likely to face threats / retaliations : police, army, prison service etc. other front line workers like NHS staff, fire fighters. What about local councils - someone might get revenge for a planning application being denied.
Maybe certain politicians should reflect if some of their hurty words might be part of the reason they need increased protection. I am perfectly capable of having a rational debate / disagreeing with someone without wanting to harm them.
Parliament provides security to any MPs whenever they need it (even just if there is a possible credible threat). That's the reason Farage and other Reform members have been surrunded by guys since her death; just on the off chance something might happen, even if there's no evidence of any intention of follow-up attacks. The circle of boudyguards he had around him when he paid his respects weren't because he suddenly dipped into his 5 million stash set aside for security.
Assuming there is any reason to suspect a potential threat, then MPs are offered protection. Yet another reason why Farage's lies about being advised not to do surgeries was always ridiculous. Parliament Security don't tell MPs not to do surgeries if there is a risk, they simply provide security to keep them safe while going about their duties.
I don't know why people are blaming the police when there are anxious to actually say anything because you've got people in MPs that are ready to start up a war on anything they can use but the police have said to their own agenda
Hold on they had no evidence before he was arrested and he’s devices were taken and examined. This can take time as these perpetrators generally hide the literature in hidden files. Everyone wants instant results but the police need time to examine the evidence found.
An article in the i newspaper yesterday uncovered the fact that Faridge has been lying all along about a lack of protection from Parliament. He was offered an armed close protection officer, a car and a trained driver, but Faridge refused the offer. Lies and more lies.
What about giving some publicity to the other 600 murdres a year in the country. Now we hear about the security of other Politicians, What about the security of all the people in the Country, 600 murders a year in this country. No Publicity for them.
