Her 'sorry' apology sounds like Labor PM Kevin Rudd's 2008 'stolen generations' apology to the Australian native peoples. The same tone and structure anyway. Vicky Brady should drop the arrogance of her position and concentrate on restoring Telstra to a competent and winning organisation. Telstra is only in 'managed decline' at the moment.
Ok two of the big three telcos that have f@#&ed up, spin carnt help, its all outsourced so an orgaisation do not need to pay for anaysis, building, testing nor implementation.
While it is all very well to have gnashing of teeth and demands for a system that cannot fail there has to be some acceptance of reality. We live in a real world where perfection, while admirable, is seldom achieved. The analogy of aircraft that simply cannot fail is pertinent as we know that in the real world tragic failures do happen and the aircraft manufacturers learn from them and improve what is already the safest way to travel.
Creating a perfect, failsafe, 000 system may be possible… but at what cost? Before anyone says “it doesn’t matter what it costs, we have to do it” costs do matter… if, for example, it cannot be done for less than the GDP of the country we simply cannot afford it.
I’m not defending Telstra or their failure, but blindly demanding perfection is not going to do anything, let alone solve the problem.
How the hell can this human be responsible for a machine which has to handle millions of instructions per minute all over the planet. Christ sometimes our own personal brain has a break down. Anika Wells wouldnt know if her arse was on fire. She couldnt even fix her car if it broke down , and here she's mouthing off about a number of machines she wouldnt have a clue how they work. Stick to what you do know.

Just yesterday we discussed the term 'she will be right' and have had little response as to to why it was no longer current in todays environment. Because of this mindset we are we we are.
Telstra is a private corporation now. When it was owned by the government it wasn't a rip off like General Motors and when problems arose it was dealt with by a minister. Like privatisation of the energy industry we were warned about corporate greed but the politicians saw wads of cash for their retirements instead. If anything those responsible now have luxury retirements with fat pensions and laugh at us like all con artists. The federal cabinets sell Australia and now we just gets screwed and screwed and screwed. Oh look at your internet bills x higher than 5 years ago but your connection is slowed down artificially and unlike the rest of the world you are metered for uploads and Telstra use class B computer infrastructure for systems ]critical to human life whilst railroads use class A. I bet their software came with a disclaimer of accountability too and their failing system is some Radio Shack TRS80 computer whilst they inflate the economy with overcharges for their economic scandal. Albanese and all the other con artist politicians at capital hill (all of them) love the taxes and roll in it every day laughing their heads off.

As an ex employee chatting with current folk, they outsourced so much of it to India to save a buck and now even asking to look at the source code is seen as antagonistic towards the software engineers over there. Basically they handed over their knowledge to India and are being held over a barrel and the engineers are incompetent.
The rot ALWAYS starts at the top. Get rid of the knitting circle and get people in who 1. Know what they are doing. 2. Actually WORK and not sit on their doughy behinds jaw flapping.
Rumour has it that they updated Firmware with the incorrect year hardcoded into it (2016). That such a whimsy bug was enough to crash the system should have alarm bells ringing at the highest levels.
